- Kidney failure with dialysis, acute renal injury or acute renal failure -high protein formulas, low phosphorus, low potassium or low sodium formulas, with water intake limited.
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory failure - high fat and low carbohydrate formulas. Limit water intake if you are susceptible to asthma.
- Diabetes or hyperglycemia due to stress - low carbohydrate and high fiber formulas.
- Severe steatorrhea and refractory diarrhea caused by short bowel syndrome, small intestinal amputation, chronic inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatic insufficiency, tinea and bile deficiency - predigested and elemental formulas.
- Steatorrhea, pancreatitis, cholecystitis, biliary obstruction - low fat formulations + MCT Oil.
- Hepatic encephalopathy - High branched-chain amino acid formulations with proper amounts of protein.
- Milk protein allergy - soy protein formulations.
