Seborrheic Dermatitis 脂漏性皮膚炎

2024/11/21

Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin disorder that occurs in areas where the sebaceous glands are active, such as the scalp, eyebrows, nasolabial folds, forechest, and upper back. It occurs in infants and adults after puberty. Symptoms often recur and may be exacerbated by life stress, emotional stress, or hospitalization.

Clinically, itchy scalp and dandruff often appear first, followed by erythema and papules accompanied by desquamation, especially at the hair line, nasolabial groove, eyebrows, lips and around the ears, and may also appear in the forechest and upper back.

As the disease is related to physical condition, symptoms often recur. It is recommended that you wash your face properly every day and use anti-dandruff shampoo containing medicinal properties every 2 to 3 days to help alleviate symptoms. When the lesion is severe, apply topical steroid ointment by doctor's order. Keeping a happy mood and regular life and rest without staying up late can also control the illness.

When symptoms worsen, the entire scalp, face, and even the body may be affected. Seek help from a dermatologist and receive appropriate medication. Do not underestimate seborrheic dermatitis. At its worst, it can even cause systemic erythroderma in few people, which is life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention.
