  • After vomiting, gargle to keep your mouth clean and comfortable. As nausea is less likely to occur in the morning, you can eat a moderate amount of snacks before breakfast and increase breakfast intake.
  • Choose your favorite foods and eat several small meals. If the food is light and tasteless, you may choose food with heavy taste or change the cooking method.
  • Vomiting is often affected by mood and can be improved by relaxing and distracting yourself.
  • Generally, nausea and vomiting will gradually improve 3-7 days after treatment. Antiemetic agents are also prescribed before and after chemotherapy to reduce vomiting.

Diarrhea

  • Keep the outside of the anus clean and dry. Take a sitz bath with clean water or warm water. Observe the color, nature, frequency and quantity of urine and feces. If there are any special changes, please inform your doctor or nurse.
  • If diarrhea is improved, intake of low-fiber foods such as rice and white bread can be moderately increased.
  • Choose light foods and eat several small meals a day. Drink plenty of water and maintain water balance to prevent dehydration. Before and after chemotherapy, get enough water or juices other than from grapefruit (about 2,000-3,000 c.c. per day).

  • Avoid eating foods that are too hot, spicy and sour, or deep-fried. A mouth ulcer and pain will affect eating. Eat cool, soft and non-sour food, such as cake, ice cream, steamed eggs, steamed fish, etc. Avoid rough foods such as guavas and sugarcane.

If necessary, ask the doctor to prescribe a gargle, ointment and other drugs, and use it according to the explanations of nursing staff to relieve discomfort.

  • Exercise properly to improve blood circulation.
  • Get nutritious food. Drink plenty of fluids, about 2,000 to 3,000 c.c. a day, to prevent urinary tract infections.
