Biliary Stent

Description of Medical Device

The ductal stent made of plastic or nickel-titanium alloy wires is used to treat malignant biliary tumor or benign biliary stricture in order to alleviate jaundice or heal biliary stricture.

Application Schedule

Biliary duct obstruction caused by malignant tumor.
Obstruction from bile duct stones, treatment or prevention of cholangitis.
Treatment on other benign biliary strictures.

Possible Side Effects

Gastrointestinal or biliary tract bleeding.
Stent migration.
Perforation.
Stent occlusion (approximately 3 months of accessible period using plastic stent) that causes jaundice or cholangitis.

Post-Surgery Care Instructions

Main caregivers of patients should observe if the patients have signs with tarry stool, bloody stool, abdominal pain, fever, or jaundice. For any question, please consult with your physician or nurses for relevant information.
