Goal
Excessive fat feeding not only contributes to obesity but also leads to high blood cholesterol, high blood sugar, diseases like cardiovascular, and increased the incidence of diabetes. Restricted fat intake is helpful in lowering blood triglyceride and cholesterol levels, reducing loading on pancreas and intestinal tract, and minimizing stimulations of the gallbladder.

- Avoid foods with high oil:
- Whole milk, condensed milk, whole milk powder, ice cream, cheese, fresh cream, creamer, cream ball.
- Fish eggs, crab roe, shrimp eggs, fatty pork, pork belly, hoof, pig skin, pig feet, duck skin, chicken skin, fish skin, fish belly, oily tofu, oily gluten bubble, fried bean bag.
- Minced pork, meat sauce, dried pork, pork floss, dried meat, ham, sausage, bacon, hot dog, meatball, fishball.
- Fried rice, fried noodles, fried rice noodles, instant noodles, biscuits, fried dough sticks, fried dumplings, pot stickers, sweet and salty bread, potato chips, chocolate, popcorn, milk candy.
- Coconut flour (meat), avocado, durian.
- Mayonnaise, salad dressing, sesame sauce, peanut butter, chili sauce, shacha sauce, bean paste, butter, lard.
- Almonds, walnuts, chestnuts, cashews, pistachios, sesame, broad beans, peanuts, melon seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds.
- Choose lean meat base on its fat content with the order of fish without fish abdomen, peeled poultry of chickens, ducks, and geese, fat-removed meat like cattle, sheep, and pig.
- Remove the oil layered on top before heating frozen stewed meat.
- Roasted chicken or barbecue sauce, containing high levels of fat, should be banned.
- When cooking, you could use diverse cooking measures like steaming, boiling, stewing, roasting, and brining to reduce the amount of oil.such as: steamed fish, boiled white meat, roast chicken,boiled white braised pork, vegetables salad.
- Can make more use of less irritating condiments, such as sugar, vinegar, Sichuan peppercorns, star anise, five spices, tomato sauce, onions, ginger, garlic, or thickening to increase the flavor and stimulate appetite.
- When dining out, choose steamed and stewed foods, and avoid those use deep frying or oil (sesame oil, cream, salad dressing, spicy oil). For example: sesame oil chicken, butter crab, pineapple shrimp balls, five-geng intestines, etc.
- People with gastrointestinal discomfort or have long suffer from stomach upset should eat less foods that are easy to produce gas, such as: soy products, onions, leeks, peppers, cabbage, broccoli, green peppers, sweet potatoes, etc
- Food choices should be balanced, and can increase whole grains, vegetables, fruits, skimmed milk and other foods to supplement the calories lost due to fat restriction.
- If patients have long suffer from stomach upset, they should not consume foods yielding gas and those food include onion, leek, pepper, cabbage, cauliflower, green peppers, and sweet potatoes.
- Abide by instructions given by doctors and dieticians to consume fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K if you are under long-term low-oil diet.
- For patients with chylothorax, chylous ascites, or liver, gallbladder, and pancreatic diseases, medium chain triglycerides (MCT-oil) can be used to replace reduced calorie caused by restricted fat intake.
