Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming global critical-care delivery. China Medical University Hospital (CMUH) was invited to the inaugural Sarawak Critical Care Conference 2026, hosted by Sarawak General Hospital, Malaysia. Led by Chief Secretary Dr. Wei-Cheng Chen, the CMUH team presented to nearly 300 critical-care experts, physicians, and nurses from Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan, sharing innovations in AI-driven critical care, intelligent clinical decision support, and the generative-AI care robot EirBot. HiThings ICU Command Center Builds Intelligent Decision Model; Clinical Evidence Improves Critical Care Quality
Chief Secretary and Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Dr. Wei-Cheng Chen presented “HiThings ICU Command Center,” describing how CMUH integrates artificial intelligence, AIoT, health IT, and interdisciplinary teams to create a platform for real-time monitoring, risk alerts, and clinical decision support. The platform has been successfully applied in antibiotic stewardship, early ARDS detection, and intelligent nutritional care.
Through data governance, smart analytics, and remote collaboration, the HiThings ICU Command Center has improved clinical decision efficiency and patient safety, reduced ARDS mortality, and established a clinically validated, sustainable, and replicable model of intelligent critical care—demonstrating Taiwan’s ability to move technological innovation into clinical practice.
Latest Evidence in Critical Respiratory Care Strengthens Southeast Asian Clinical Exchange
Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Dr. Yi-Cheng Shen shared strategies for respiratory support in acute exacerbations of obstructive lung disease (AECOPD), including noninvasive ventilation (NIV), high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and invasive mechanical ventilation. He reviewed approaches to prevent dynamic hyperinflation and auto-PEEP, ventilator adjustments and expiratory-time management, and best practices for delivering inhaled bronchodilators to mechanically ventilated patients. These clinical discussions fostered exchanges of current evidence and frontline experience with international experts.
Generative-AI Care Robot EirBot Draws International Attention; Demonstrates New Smart-Nursing Model
Business Director Peter Tsai (EverBot Technology) shared to address global nursing shortages and rising care demands, CMUH demonstrated the next-generation generative-AI nursing robot EirBot. Peter Tsai, Business Director of EverBot Technology (Longlian Tech), introduced EirBot’s medical large-language model (LLM), RAG smart retrieval, and on-premises deployment that ensure clinical utility and data security. EirBot provides patient education, facility navigation, remote video rounds, smart delivery, meal ordering, and voice-based shift handover, and can reduce nurses’ noncore workload by approximately 30%.
EirBot attracted extensive interest and discussion among clinical teams at the conference, showcasing how generative AI can support care quality and workforce efficiency, and became a highlight of the event’s smart-health program.

After the conference, CMUH’s International Center joined the Taiwan External Trade Development Council’s Malaysia trade mission to exhibit EirBot and smart-health solutions at the APHM International Medical Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.

During the conference, the CMUH team engaged in in-depth exchanges with Sarawak General Hospital and international critical-care experts, sharing clinical experiences and smart-health development models across different healthcare systems, and exploring future collaboration in critical care, AI applications, and training.
Dr. Wei-Cheng Chen emphasized that AI’s value is not to replace clinical expertise but to help teams make better decisions at the right time. Although countries face different healthcare challenges, the shared goal is improving patient care. Through international exchange, CMUH aims to share Taiwan’s smart-health achievements and build long-term partnerships to advance critical-care medicine, intelligent care, and talent development so more patients may benefit.
