Recuperation

  1. Get enough sleep and keep a good mood.
  2. Early breast feeding: the presence and quantity of early breast milk are related to the time when breast-feeding starts and the time when the let-down reflex is established.
  3. If mother and baby share the same room, breast-feed according to the baby's needs.
  4. If the baby is not around (mother-baby separation), squeeze out the milk at least every 3-4 hours.
  5. If the baby does not finish sucking, or the mother still feels breast swelling or lump after breast-feeding, the remaining milk shall be squeezed out or extracted with a breast pump.

Diet adjustment

  1. Take in "appropriate" calories, water and various nutrients.
  2. Food should be light and easy to digest.
  3. Eat more foods that help boost breast milk production.
  4. Avoid eating foods that decrease milk supply.
  5. Eat less raw and cold food, such as sashimi, lettuce salad, cold drinks, watermelon, etc.
  6. Eat less spicy and irritating food, such as curry, chili, deep-fried food, grilled food, etc.

Foods that increase milk supply

  • Milk, soy milk, pure black wort, high-protein soup (chicken soup, fish soup, spareribs soup, sesame oil chicken), rice porridge, poached egg in sweet fermented rice soup, onion, red beans, soybeans, black beans, sesame seeds, peanuts, yam, pig knuckle, shrimp, crab, oyster, Carassius auratus, etc.

Foods that decrease milk supply

  • Malt (barley), barley tea, leek, Sichuan pepper, fermented black soybeans, ginseng, coffee, mint, etc.

Acupoint massage

  1. Hegu: between the first and second metacarpal bones on the back of the hand, i.e. the middle bottom of the thumb and index finger.
  2. Tanzhong: the midpoint between the two nipples.
  3. Zusanli: 3 inches below the in the depression lateral side of the patellar ligament (Waixiyan) on the front and outside of the lower leg.
  4. Taichong: under the middle of the first and second toes on the instep.
  5. Tianzong: it is located at the scapula, at the central depression of the infraspinatus fossa, which is level with the fourth thoracic vertebra (the left hand is on the right shoulder, the left palm is on the half of the right shoulder, i.e. the middle finger tip position).
  6. Shaoze: the root of the nail corner outside the little finger.
