If the colon is not completely cleaned out and residual stool covers small lesions (e.g. polyps or small-cell cancer), the performance of your exam completion will have negative impact. Therefore, please follow the administration of cathartic below for cleaning your colon.

PRE-EXAM FOOD INSTRUCTIONS
- 2 Days Prior to the Exam:
- Eat: Food with low amount of fibrous residue, including rice porridge, noodle, soup with egg, or toast.
- Don’t eat: Any food containing high content of fiber and protein (vegetable, fruit, meat, tofu, gluten), milk, dairy products, any food with fibrous residue and drinks with dark colors (e.g. grapefruit juice, carrot juice, tomato juice, and watermelon juice).
- Starting from 5P.M. the day before the exam: Eat liquid food without fibrous residue such as rice porridge, fish soup, sport drinks.
- You can also use a low-residue meal replacement designed for colonoscopy: just consume it the day before the test.
HOW TO TAKE BOWKLEAN POWDER?

- Administration Instruction:
- Follow the instruction and finish all to assure the colon cleaning effect.
- Add 150c.c. of cold water in room temperature to every pack of “Bowklean Powder.”
- *Stir each pack for at least 5 minutes.
- The temperature will slightly rise during the dissolution process and drink up all liquid immediately after dissolution
- M D 5P.M. Take the first dose. Start replenishing water in 1 hour after the 1st administration by drinking 250 c.c. of water in every 30 minutes for least 8 times (approximately 2,000c.c.) or more. Drink water mostly or drink sport drinks and clear broth (filtered vegetable broth and fish broth), and observe the condition of excrement.
- M D A.M. Take the 2nd dose. Start replenishing water in 30 minutes after the 2nd administration by drinking 250c.c. water in every 30 minutes for at least 3 times (750c.c.), and observe the condition of excrement.
- Patients receiving anesthesia or sedation should not drink or eat starting from ______A.M. on the day of exam.
- To avoid dehydration, patients not receiving anesthesia may continue to drink clear liquid such as rice porridge, fish broth, sport drinks.
HOW TO FIND OUT IF THE COLON IS CLEANED THOROUGHLY?
Replenish water to help bowel movement and prevent dehydration. Please drink several times under suggested water amount. Please excrete until the liquid becomes transparent for thorough cleaning. If the liquid is still appears orange-yellow, please continue replenishing water before water deprivation.
PRECAUTIONS
- Please follow the physician instruction to stop taking anticoagulant. Only laxative or completely clear drinks can be taken on the day of exam. Food with low content of fibrous residue is prohibited. Patients can still take high blood pressure medicine and anticonvulsant but it is suggested not to take hypoglycemic drugs
- Diarrhea will start in about 2 hours after taking the medicine and will last for about 2.5~3 hours. It is suggested to rinse the anus with water and reduce the use of paper tissue.
- The time for excrement could be delayed due to personal condition or habits of constipation. Excrement time could be delayed, so the patient should walk around, massage the abdomen or rinse the anus with lukewarm water for stimulation after taking the colon cleaning medicine, in order to speed up bowel movement and excrement.
- Do not take the laxative if the patient has the following disease and please inform the nurses voluntarily:
- Severely reduced renal function (creatinine clearance rate (CCR) lower than 30 mL / min)
- Gastrointestinal obstruction or intestinal obstruction, enterobrosis, gastric stasis
- Ulcerative colitis or toxic megacolon
