Hypertensive patients may suffer from cerebral hemorrhage, fundus hemorrhage or epistaxis due to the use of heparin in dialysis. Be careful, otherwise it's treatment may be delayed.
Why does Blood Pressure Rise?
- Excessive intake of water and salt increases blood circulation and blood pressure.
- High levels of renin: A few people with high blood pressure have excessive renin secretion. People with high renin secretion will gradually increase their blood pressure after dialysis.
- When the concentration of sodium in the dialysate is too high, the concentration of sodium in the blood will go up, and water will be introduced, leading to the increase of blood volume and blood pressure.
- Mental and psychological causes: excessive excitement or psychological stress causes blood pressure to rise.
Symptoms
- Headache, stiff shoulders, anxiety, nausea, vomiting.
- Facial blushing.
- Convulsion, loss of consciousness.
Prevention and Handling
- Limit water and salt intake.
- Keep quiet environment.
- Lift your head.
- Take sedatives and blood pressure medications.
- In severe cases, immediately reduce dehydration and blood flow.
- After dialysis, take a rest for 30 minutes. If systolic pressure is still higher than 180 mmHg, the patient should be treated according to the instructions of the physician.
