Founded in 1995, the hospital's Diabetes Education Center in 1997 was rated as a center-level diabetes promotion organization by the Bureau of Health Promotion of the Department of Health of the Executive Yuan.
Staffed with six educators—Kuei-mei Yeh, Chi-yu Huang, Wan-chi Chang, Li-chun Lu,Ying-Fang Chang, and Yao-ting Chang, the center provides information about diabetes home care and preparations and diet consultations; integrates social welfare resources and other health consultation services; regularly holds diabetics get-togethers, blood glucose control and carbohydrate knowledge classes. In addition, it makes diabetes education posters and publishes diabetes knowledge publications; offers insulin injection guidance and teaching sessions for self-monitoring of blood glucose machines; organizes juvenile diabetes patients and family get-togethers; promotes the 72-hour continuous glucose monitor examination and insulin pump, with the goal of giving a full range of nursing and nutritional care.
The center is tasked with a simple mission: to "bring long-term and continuous improvement in quality of life for diabetics, including type 1 and type 2 and gestational diabetes." This common goal connects the center’s clinical treatment with education closely to become a unique integrated service item in hospital facilities. Our clinical therapists and staff members provide high-standard diabetes care for patients with premium, interdisciplinary medical combinations, in order to offer every patient the latest and appropriate treatment.
