Bone screw and bone plate
Description
Bone screws and bone plates are one of the methods used to fix bone blocks in various parts of the body, aiming to narrow the gap between the two sides of the fracture and promote the healing of the fracture. The bone screws and bone plates used for facial bone can be divided into absorbable and non-absorbable. Whether the bone screws and bone plates implanted should be removed or not is dependent on the material, position and condition,
When to Use
- Internal fixation for facial fractures.
- Fixation of various facial bone masses.
- Fixation of various osteotomies in orthodontic surgery of the jawbone.
- Fixation of bone grafts for reconstruction of the alveolar bone.
Possible Side Effects
- In the case of adolescents or children in their growing period, the use of internal fixation with bone screws and plates may result in growth impairment and should be used with caution.

- Brush your teeth at least twice a day, and use mouthwash to help keep the wound clean if the wound from the placement of bone screws and bone plates is in the mouth.
- Patients should learn how to take care of the wound. If you have any questions, please consult your doctor or nurse practitioner for relevant information.
