Thank you for choosing our hospital to provide you with orthodontic services. We try our best to serve you the best oral care and pleasant appearance. A successful orthodontic outcome must be a team effort from the patient, parents, family members, spouse, and orthodontist.
To achieve the best results of orthodontics, patients and their families should understand the purpose and needs of orthodontics. This information will let you understand the role you play in the orthodontic services offered for you.
I deeply feel that it is very important for the patient to understand the orthodontic contents and precautions. Our staffers are always ready to answer your questions. We are proud of the different levels of disinfection we provide to our patients, and we appreciate your full cooperation during the orthodontic treatment.
- Every time you come to the clinic, whether you have brushed your teeth or not, you should bring your own toothbrush.
- During orthodontics, you should always carry a toothbrush with you and clean your teeth after each meal. Improper oral hygiene may cause dental caries and periodontal disease. The treatment fee for these diseases is not included in the orthodontic treatment.
- It takes about 2 hours to have the orthodontic appliance put on your teeth, and about 20~30 minutes for each adjustment every 3 ~ 4 weeks. The time required for special adjustment varies depending on the condition.
- During the first 2~3 days after the orthodontic device is put on, the teeth will start to move, which will cause different degrees of pain. This is a normal phenomenon. You don't need to be too nervous. At this time, you can eat noodles as a main meal.
- After using the orthodontic device, our assistant will tell you how to brush your teeth and teach you how to use the special device. As children's hand muscles are not fully developed, consider using an electric toothbrush to help clean their mouth and use a fluoride mouthwash after cleaning to prevent tooth decay.
- During the first week after the orthodontic device is installed on the tooth surface, it will cause discomfort and a break to the oral mucosa. Talk as little as possible during this period and eat less of foods that need to be chewed and have stimulating effects.
- Adults who have just been fitted with orthodontic devices are more difficult to adapt to than children. If the oral mucosa has been broken for too long, you can apply a small amount of soft wax from the assistant to the orthodontic devices to reduce the friction against the mucosa.
- Orthodontics requires physical coordination, which is gradual and physiological. If you need to wear any device after diagnosis, please cooperate as much as possible.
- If you are instructed to wear the intraoral or extraoral device, please cooperate, and do not increase or decrease your time or strength without your doctor’s instruction. Failure to do so may increase the time and cost of orthodontic treatment.
- Wear the intraoral or extraoral device (cap cover, rubber band, maintainer, etc.) as instructed by the physician. Please put it on when coming to the clinic and on the treatment table for the convenience of the physician's examination.
- In orthodontics, biting and tearing of food should be avoided to prevent the falling off of orthodontic devices (such as biting apples, chicken wings, chicken feet, sugarcane, baked seeds of sunflowers and pumpkins).
- Food that needs to be torn hard should be cut into small pieces to eat.
- If any device falls off during orthodontic treatment or if there is any emergency that you don't know, please call us first, and we will determine whether we need to deal with it immediately and make an appointment for the visit.
- It will take more time to re-attach the orthodontic device. If the device falls off, please inform the desk assistant at the time of registration so that you will be given priority in treatment.
- The hospital adopts the appointment system, which means the date and time of the next appointment is scheduled at the end of each visit. In principle, patients should come to see the doctor as scheduled for a specific exam session on a first come, first served basis. If you are unable to come to the clinic at the appointed time, please inform us by telephone as early as possible and make a new appointment.
